Boston Diary

As a daily routine I listen to NPR on my way to work. I was about to step out of my car when I heard   " Boston healing - a report in 20 mins" . I paused for a moment. Then I realized I needed to be at work and walked out of the parking deck to my office. The words "Boston healing " kept resonating the whole day in my mind. I could not stop thinking about Boston.

I lived in Boston from December 2007 to June 2009. I also visited the city on and off for a year from July 2012  to June 2013. This morning brought back fond memories of my stay at Boston. Boston is the first city I came to when I landed in USA. For me it is a very special city. It holds a special place in my heart.

I still remember that day when I landed at Logan  international airport with my husband, stepping out of the plane as newly weds. After immigration formalities and customs clearance , I was headed towards the parking lot. I was holding my husband's hand and a huge stroller bag in my other hand. The chilly wind blew on my face as I stepped out of the airport and I grabbed his hand tightly. Realizing I had not worn gloves my husband took off his gloves and gave them to me. He pushed the cart loaded with 5 more heavily packed stroller bags with bare hands(  no gloves ) till we reached the car in the parking lot.

My married life started in this city. Back then we were renting a small studio apartment in Allston off of Commonwealth avenue . That studio apartment was very tiny but was like a palace of my dreams . I decorated every nook and corner of the apartment, mounted some wall decor and hung curtains on every window. I gave it some TLC ( tender loving care ) . As much as I transformed that bachelor pad/studio into a home , the city of Boston transformed me as a person. I landed as a newly married wife and found new life, going in a whole new direction.
